We would like to draw your attention to upcoming changes regarding Maut that will have consequences for transportation within Europe from the end of 2023.
The German government has decided to increase the road tolls (MAUT) in Germany, which includes transports to and from Germany as well as transit to other countries.
From 1 December 2023, there will be an increase of 83% per kilometer. This means an increase of 0.158 € cents per kilometer, which will be added to the current rates for transport by car through Germany.
There will be further changes to the toll from 2024-07-01, when vehicles between 3.5 tons and 7.5 tons will also be covered. Today, the MAUT only applies to 7.5-ton vehicles and heavier.
Other countries, such as Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary, are also reviewing their charges for e.g. road taxes. We will return with more information about this when a decision is made.
